I’ve always been fascinated by history and the stories of the people who came before me. As an amateur armchair genealogist, Celtic Family Chronicles is a family history blog, retelling the stories of our ancestors and my progress exploring our family tree.

I’m calling this little corner of the web “Celtic Family Chronicles” to represent both the Scottish and Irish origins of my family. However, we have family from much further afield so i’ll be straying far and wide. The use of the word “Celtic” (soft ‘c’ rather than hard ‘c’) is also a little bit of fun wordplay since most of my immediate family supports Celtic football club, based in Glasgow, Scotland.

If life has taught me anything, it’s that it’s too easy to lose touch with each other. I hope that by sharing our family history I will not only learn about my ancestors, but also develop closer bonds with my living relatives. I welcome any and all hints, tips, and suggestions as I embark on what I know will be a life long journey.

It’s early days and I don’t know where things will lead, but I have big dreams for this space. Oh the places we will go!
